Broadway Pictures!
I was in New York this month. By lucky chance, I happened to be living just a stone’s throw away from Broadway, the avenue in Manhattan from which Broadway Theatre takes its name.
Saw Stomp, an extraordinary show of choreographed percussion and mime.
There wasn’t time for more but I did manage a "photo shoot" of the Broadway Theatre District, exclusively for DramaDose!
At the TKTS booth
The TKTS booth on 47th Street sells tickets for Broadway and off-Broadway shows, at discounts of 25-50%. It is a weekday, but the queue is long and ticket counters are buzzing with activity.
That’s me looking at the show listings…
Manhattan Theatre Club
Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) is one of America’s most reputed theatre organizations. MTC produces plays and musicals on and off-Broadway, and has won several theatre awards over the years.
A Poster of Hair
One the most popular musicals on Broadway, Hair made its debut in 1967 and has been performed thousands of times since.
You can see a number of posters of Hair on their Wikipedia page, right from the original 1960s poster to the one 2009 one. But not the latest one (yet!) that we found pasted on a metal gate near the Manhattan Theatre Club.
With the 2010 poster of Hair:
View from Times Square
All over New York’s Theatre District are mega-sized illuminated billboards of Broadway shows.
Four such in the next picture: Hair, Jersey Boys, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked (a 2003 production which uses The Wizard of Oz as a back-story).
Below: [1] a signboard of Mamma Mia! glows bright above the New York traffic; [2] signboards of South Pacific, West Side Story, Chicago.
The Lion King @ Minskoff Theatre
The Lion King, a musical based on the 1994 Disney film of the same name, is performed daily at Minskoff Theatre, Broadway.

Thanks Shruthi. I’d love to watch The Lion King too! I’ve seen Les Miserables before – the singing and the sets were spectacular.
